The small town Modra with its vineyards and especially its villa quarter Harmónia belong to the most enchanting localities in the vicinity of Bratislava. A family house designed by the architect Čerešňák is one of the most interesting constructions that recently appeared there. Surface treatment attracts attention immediately: it is a metal covering getting along the whole sheathing of the building. The architect disrupted frequently used archetypal form of the house by two protruded parts that enlarge the size of the attic premises. The author took into consideration the energetic aspects of dwelling including building’s position as well as the central heating system using the hot air fireplace. The building might not answer the demands of so-called „passive houses“, but its economy and aesthetical form make it one the best houses recently built in Slovakia. Peter Szalay
